“Mapping the Soul” is a poetic exploration of identity and memory, where sculptures, maps, fabrics, and photographs weave together fragments of a personal and universal story.
Joanathan Bessaci – Visual Artist
Born in 1980 in Lyon, Joanathan Bessaci is a visual artist whose work explores memory, personal journeys, and the invisible threads that connect us. Shaped by a family heritage rooted in Kabyle and Vietnamese cultures, he draws on these diverse influences to create a deeply poetic and reflective body of work. Starting with graffiti and painting, his practice has evolved to include road map cuttings, recycled cardboard sculpture, and the reassembly of old photographs. Moving between abstraction and figuration, his work delves into themes of identity, displacement, and reconstruction. In 2024, he created a monumental sculpture for the Lucca Biennale, marking a significant step in an artistic journey that is as sensitive as it is engaged.
Now celebrating 47 years in the nation’s capital, Zenith is recognized for its unique mix of contemporary art in a wide variety of media, style, and subject.
