We are thrilled to present Back to the Future, works by Robert C. Jackson, a solo exhibition featuring some of the artist’s finest work, the culmination of many years of painting. Robert has a long history with Zenith Gallery reaching back to the earliest days of his career in 1995, and when Zenith held his first ever solo exhibition in 2001. To say Robert’s renown as an artist has flourished since then might be an understatement. More accurately, his career took off like a rocket heading into the future!
His work is found in many prestigious collections and museums throughout the United States, including the Delaware Art Museum, Brandywine River Museum of Art, Evansville Museum of Art, History, and Sciences, South Dakota Art Museum, New Britain Museum of American Arts, The Mattatuck Museum, Seven Bridges Foundation, as well as individuals and corporations worldwide.
Robert’s work has been published in numerous catalogs and texts, including Robert C. Jackson Paintings, a full color catalog featuring 130 images of the artist’s paintings with accompanying essays by Philip Eliasoph, American art historian, critic and curator quoted here: “The paintings … are inescapably a bundle of contradictions, satirical complexities, and witty subterfuge. Essentially, Jackson is a uniquely self-realized painter. His feisty independence is fortified with healthy dosages of non-conforming eccentricity, with a small touch of screwball nuttiness.”
In the artist’s words, “On the surface, I paint still life in a realist tradition, taking commonplace items of everyday life and immortalizing them on canvas. I find beauty in things as they are, with all their flaws and imperfections, and allow the viewer to encounter the same in my carefully constructed compositions. Beneath the surface though, you’ll be invited to explore my spiritual longing for something more in life, contrasted with my ironic sense of humor.” A careful exploration of his work will show you slices of this short, sweet thing we call life and the circumstances encountered there within.
