Guenther Riess

Guenther M. Riess Born in Wels, Austria, and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1956, settling in California. Guenther studied art and received a scholarship to the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, California where he pursued a lifelong career in the arts. His three-dimensional constructions are held in corporate collections around the world, including Tropical Music, IBM, ITT, GE, MCI, HBO, Volvo and Peavey Electronics. His work has been collected by Senators, Celebrities, Actors, Congressmen, and Captains of Industry. “My work is characterized as mixed media. I incorporate pencil, watercolor, acrylics, wood, and glass in my pieces. My work is original, painted and constructed from hand cut museum board. Coat after coat of paint portray the years of wear and tear on the facades I create. Texture is my passion; it is the means by which I seduce the viewer into my work. Although my work shows realism, it is secondary to my interest and love of texture”
