Guigui Kohon develops her work in a game of depths where nothing is what it seems. We approach and move away from a disturbing structure trying to penetrate the multiple layers in which the artist proposes us to decipher an enigma. But which? Perhaps the key is to invert the terms: light would be shadow, and darkness a space to glimpse a possible route. Kohon was born in Concepción del Uruguay, Entre Ríos, Argentina. She lived in Barcelona from 1996 to 2008, and currently lives and works in Buenos Aires. Obtained a degree in Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires UBA;FADU; Bachelor of Arts and Crafts at La Escola Massana Barcelona. She attends the Sergio Bazán Visual Arts Workshop and is currently studying for a Masters in Communication and Cultural Creation at UCAECE University. She is an Associate Professor at Chair Kweitel-Kohon, Design of Accessories of the Clothing Design, Degree Course Buenos Aires University UBA;FADU. She received a Scholarship Award at La Escola Massana, Residence at Pueblo Español BCN and she won the Marshall Silesia Lower Award, the KGHM Metale Poland Assembly Prize, 2nd Petrobras Free Bs.As. Photo Award. Her paintings were selected at the V Bienal de Artes Visuales Áreatec, VII Salón de Pintura Vicentin, and XLIX Salón de Artes Visuales Félix de Amador. Her works have been exhibited in Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Portugal, Spain, U.S.A, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina.
