A longtime art teacher and counselor at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School in Washington, D.C. Francesca Britton has developed her own work while propelling the work of many young artists, incorporating current trends and new possibilities in image-making.
Originally a painter of realism, Francesca now focuses on multi-media abstract art. Delving through her countless layers, Francesca edits, uncovers areas of interest, then eliminates some areas and reworks others within her paintings to find the beauty exposed within the spaces of her work. In some of her paintings, it seems as though you are looking through the clouds, revealing color and design.
Her art has been exhibited at the Torpedo Factory, Alexandria, Virginia; Zenith Gallery, Washington, D.C.; the Washington Ethical Society, Washington, D.C.; The Mosaic District Gallery, Fairfax, VA; The Kingsbury Center, Washington, D.C.; Artsy; and the Montgomery County Artist Association (MCAA) in Maryland.
